RABBIT PROOF FENCE
This is an emotional Australian film about three young girls who walk 1,500 miles to reunite with their mothers after being kidnapped and taken to a reeducation reservation in 1931. In Australia, these children were considered to be half-castes, having both Aborigine and Caucasian blood, and the plan was to "breed out" the Aboriginal bloodline. Based upon a true story, young adults and older children will also appreciate this film. (2002)

- What I felt just after watching this film is anger against the decidion of the Australia government. They seriously believed that the fairer their skin is, the cleverer they are. They considered, in other words, white people are smart and colored people are dull; people whose color of skin is very dark are more stupid. It is a ridiculous idea, don't you think? I couldn't help feeling anger. Then why the little girls walked 1,500 mile? before talking about that, can you imagin how far 1,500 miles is? It almost the same distance between Wakkanai in Hokkaido to Naha in Okinawa. Can you believe that!? They walked that far in almost 2 months. That is because they longed to see their moms! I'm interested in such films which spot historical true events, it was very nice to see this film. Also as I've once visited aborigial school in Melbourne, Australia, knowing the background of their ancestors was really meaningful for me.
